Welcome to My Personal Page
Each year, there are more new cases of skin cancer than the combined incidences of breast, prostate, lung, and colon cancer, and the annual cost of treating nonmelanoma and melanoma skin cancers in the U.S. is estimated at $8.1 billion.
Given these numbers, Anne Arundel Dermatology is proud to be sponsoring the fourth annual Strides Against Skin Cancer 5K on Saturday, May 16, 2020, to benefit skin cancer education, prevention and treatment.
This year, Strides Against Skin Cancer will benefit The Skin Cancer Foundation, and we are looking forward to another fun and successful event. Join Me!
My personal journey with skin cancer started about 20 years ago. Growing up as a blue eyed, very fair skin girl tanning was never successful for me. Instead I burned my skin repeatedly attempting to tan. If I only knew then what I know now. I have had six Squamous cell carcinoma surgeries on my face and multiple ones on my chest, arms and legs. I am so thankful for Dr. Harrington at Anne Arundel Dermatology for his expertise in Mohs surgery. I have skin checks every three months to catch these cancers before they spread. Embrace your beautiful skin, and take care of it! I highly recommend skin checks even if you have not burned your skin. They can sometimes be very hard to detect, mine were just a small scaly flesh toned spot. Attached are one of my before and after skin surgeries.
Enjoy the beautiful sunshine, but be smart! Protect your skin.
Blessings to you,
Lisa Rhine
